Woodside Farm, of Hockessin, Delaware, celebrated National Ice Cream Day last Sunday, as they do each year (wish we had been able to post advance warning for those who might have wanted to attend!). Each year they do a taste-off of several new flavors. This year’s winner was Key Lime Sorbet, beating out Peanut Butter with Chocolate Chunks, and Malted Milk Balls. Not only was there lots of great ice cream, but they raised money for the Food Bank of Delaware. See a story by Robin Brown about the event, in The News Journal.
The above photo shows Woodside Farm’s ice cream in the very early stages of production. As we state in our Roadfood.com review, “The milk from the small Jersey cows on this farm is especially rich in butterfat and protein, and the resulting ice cream, no matter which flavor you choose, tastes most of all of dairy richness.”
