Grimaldi’s Coming to Fort Myers

Posted by Bruce Bilmes and Sue Boyle , July 29, 2010 10:05

Grimaldi

It began under the Brooklyn bridge.  Then it spread to New Jersey.  It made its way to Queens and Long Island, and even to Texas, Arizona, and Vegas.  Now, Florida, watch out, because Grimaldi’s famous coal oven pizza is coming to the Bell Tower Shops in Fort Myers in the fall of 2010.  Will the pies be as good as at the Brooklyn original?  Time will tell, but we found the pies made in Scottsdale to actually be superior.  One thing to watch out for, though: folks outside of the Northeast tend not to appreciate blackened pizza crusts.  Grimaldi’s has learned over the years to avoid scorching the Southwest pies.  We bet the same thing will apply to the Florida pizzas, so if you want the true Brooklyn experience, ask for your pie well-done.
