Dining A Deux

Al's-seats-1

Outdoors at Al's in Naugatuck, Connecticut (where Naugahyde was born), there are regular wooden picnic tables. That’s where customers eat when the weather is nice; and Al’s has plenty of fair-weather customers. But the colorful old drive-in is open all year, and when it’s cold outside a handful of diners can enjoy some of the oddest restaurant seating I’ve come across: avocado-green-upholstered rolling desk chairs, lined up two-by-two at what appear to be desks from a defunct business. I’ll be writing a review of Al’s soon, including pictures of the dogs and their eye-opening Hawaiian hot relish, but wanted to share this strange vision right away.

Boy, that seating would scare me off! Too close to the way my work cubicle looked.
