Ma, Is That Really You?

In a recent Digest post titled Ritual Chicken Dinner, Ohio-Style, we noted some of the traditional chicken meals to be found around the country.  There was some discussion about it on Roadfood’s Facebook page, and Ma Glockner’s of Bellingham, MA was mentioned.  Ma Glockner’s closed last year, and many have said that it was only a shadow of its former self towards the end.

It seems a restaurant in Woonsocket, RI, River Falls, has brought Ma back to life!  The séance takes place only on Sundays: they say they have Ma’s original recipe and chef too.  Has anyone ever been there to try it?  Is it anything like Ma’s chicken?  Is it the good chicken from earlier days?  And how’s that coconut cream pie?  We’d love to hear about it!

"Sunday's only?" I'm they're! But seriously, this could be wonderful news. The old Ma Glockner's chicken was really something special.

The chicken is steamed for "several hours" before getting crisped up?!  We've never had Ma's chicken but how is that possible?
