Drinkin’ Chocolate

When it comes to drinking their chocolate, Roadfood.com readers left no doubt: they want a chocolate shake (or malt).  If the question (Want Something Chocolate To Drink?) were asked mid-winter, instead of summer, maybe the hot choice would have topped the poll, but it wasn’t, so it didn’t.  There was some discussion about this poll in the Roadfood “backrooms.”  Stephen Rushmore Jr.’s thoughts: “On a hot summer day morning, chocolate is probably the last thing I want.”  We’re not chocoholics, by any means, but Bruce is quite fond of breakfast chocolate (pain au chocolat!), weather be damned.  Sue’s view is a little closer to Stephen’s.  Anyone else care to weigh in?

I love a good pain au chocolat myself and one of the best I have found in NYC is at Patisserie Claude in Greenwich Village.  Buttery, flaky and just the right amount of gooey rich dark chocolate!  Or a Nutella and banana panini for breakfast hits the spot some mornings.  How about some chocolate chip pancakes?  Or an iced hot chocolate before work on a hot summer day?
