9/3 Opening For Anchor Bar in Rochester

That certainly was quick. We reported the news here at Roadfood Digest on 7/21 that Anchor Bar of Buffalo was in negotiations with investors to open a Rochester, NY branch of the famed home of the Buffalo wing. Now we hear that the opening is scheduled for September 3rd! The address will be 355 East Avenue. And the owner of this new Anchor franchise says he has plans to open another one within the next eight months in Henrietta. See the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle for more details.

The main reason for a visitor to go to the Buffalo Anchor Bar is that it is where what is now known as the "Buffalo wing" was invented. Many Buffalonians will tell you that it is not the best place in Buffalo for wings (I was of that opinion when I lived there). The attraction of another location in Rochester would seem to be not very high, although I don't know the state of Buffalo wings dining there.
