Huntsville Wintzell’s in November

Posted by Bruce Bilmes and Sue Boyle , August 13, 2009 10:26

Huntsville is due to receive the eighth Alabama Wintzell’s Oyster House in November (there’s also one in Mississippi), according to the Huntsville Times.  The original location of this Mobile institution, downtown on Dauphin Street, remains open.  Future locations being considered include Decatur, AL and Pensacola, FL.  The photo above by buffetbuster, from the Roadfood.com review, shows an oyster sampler from the downtown Mobile location.  Left to right, those are grilled oysters, oysters Monterrey, oysters Bienville and oysters Rockefeller.

For the record - This Wintzells is not in Huntsville, but Gunthersburg.  About an hour south.

I don't believe that's correct, Susan.  The story is about a new branch of Wintzell's that is opening at the intersection of University Drive NW and Wynn Drive NW in Huntsville.  There is also a branch that has already opened in Guntersville.

Awwwww....you missed the best Hot Dog stand in Upstate NY!  You should have gone to Rhode island via Saratoga Springs, NY and ended up at "Snappy Dog's"
in Greenwich, NY!

Well, better luck in your travel itinery next time!
