What do Roadfooders most want to sample during the September Roadfood trip to Buffalo and Rochester, NY? According to the recent Roadfood.com poll that would be beef on weck. You see weck rolls more and more outside of Buffalo but, for the most part, you have to travel to the source to sample them. For the uninitiated, roast beef on weck is a Buffalo specialty served on hard rolls crusted with coarse salt and caraway seeds.
FYI, the Rochester specialties from the above list are: garbage plate, Zweigle’s white hots, and Genny Cream (Sahlen’s and frozen custard are pretty common in both cities).
