What's Your Louisiana Po'-Boy of Choice?

In the Roadfood.com poll taken the week of the Louisiana Roadfood Festival, the top po’-boy was the fried oyster version, convincingly beating out the fried shrimp po’-boy.  We tried ‘em all (except for the gravy-only version) while we were in New Orleans and would probably agree with the oyster choice in general (even though we originally chose catfish), although the single best po’-boy of the weekend was the hot sausage po’-boy we enjoyed at Domilise’s.  Can’t wait to go back and sample some more – especially the barbecued shrimp po’-boy we heard so much about!

Fried shrimp got my vote, but the idea of a barbecued shrimp po boy may change my mind!

Cliff, it's made with those unique buttery "barbecued" shrimps that don't seem barbecued to people from out-of-town.  I'm trying to remember who invented the barbecued shrimp po'-boy - maybe Liuzza's By The Track?  Maybe not.  Pascal Manale's did the BBQ shrimp, didn't they?  Maybe it was Liuzza's who put them in the bread.

Anyway, it sounds great!

Bkhuna, a soft-shell crab po'-boy sounds great!  But we have to admit that we don't remember seeing any in New Orleans in early April.

We get the soft shell crab sandwiches here in New England al the time. Out of this world. Never actually think of them as Po Boys. To me I love the fried Oysters ina  Po Boy

Without one doubt - the BEST New Orleans po-boy is Mother's oyster po-boy!  Was GREAT 28 years ago when I was a young guy in the military and was just as GREAT 2 years ago when revisited N.O.!
