We are sorry to have to report that the restaurant known as Waldorf A’Story, in the Piney Creek General Store in Story, Wyoming, has closed.  The general store remains open.  We received the following message from marky90:

I gave a friend from work this review and address to check out on there drive from Detroit to Seattle.   After arriving in Story, WY they arrived at the store which was still  open, only to find out that the restaurant has closed permanently..The staff at the store said it as due to lack of staff and a downturn in business.  Here is there website http://www.pineycreekgeneralstore.com/

A look at the Piney Creek website confirms the restaurant’s closure.  That’s buffetbuster’s photo of the restaurant and general store above, from the Roadfood.com review (which we have archived).  In his review, Michael Stern said “locals come to greet the day with biscuits and gravy, fresh-baked coffee cake, or a superb breakfast sandwich of bacon, eggs, cheese, tomatoes, and onions on French bread crisped on the grill.”

Reading the website, it seems the whole business is up for sale as the owners are retiring... any keen Roadfooder with a spare $689k out there ? Smile

It figures! I was planning on going there on my Rocky Mountain/Wild West ballpark trip this summer.

Too bad, as this was my favorite place in Wyoming.  Good food, but I remember how eccentric the place was more than anything else.  One photo I have has a toilet seat hanging near the front door, with the accompanying sign saying, "Not Just Another Pretty Face".  That's not something you see just anywhere!

As for Yellowstone Drug Store, I thought I read that they had moved.  Did they move and then close?
