The 12 Days of Iowa BPTs, Day 7

There’s a café at the edge of Templeton that doesn’t have a sign out front, yet farmers overtake the parking lot for breakfast, and truckers leave their rigs on the highway’s shoulders for lunch. Located at 18152 Highway 141 at the intersection of Highways 141 and 71, Corner Station is a diner, convenience store, and gas station. In addition to a wide array of sandwiches and a rotating hot lunch selection (today’s special was brats & kraut), Corner Station’s breaded pork tenderloin arrived at my table steaming hot out of the fryer. Its lightly grilled bun joined the crunchy crust and very white meat for a fresh-tasting pork experience. Friendly service and close proximity to the Templeton Rye Distillery make the Corner Station a suitable stop for exploring Carroll and Audubon Counties.

That sandwich looks amazing! Why is it that the best things in life are likely the ones to kill you...wouldn't stop me! Tong

I am not feeling so good about the no sign is a good sign.
I spent probably more money than I should have last year on a really nice neon sign. Not a day goes by that I don't get some kind of comment about the sign.I am sure that roadfood fans are happy to see a sign out front that they have finally made it to there destination.

JeanAnne, occasionally the absence of a sign indicates a great RF find, but I agree with you: I like seeing the sign from a distance as I drive up to a place.  The funniest thing about Corner Station is that none of Amy's colleagues has actually been there to eat -- some of them thought it was just a gas station -- yet they refer to it as "the place without a sign."  One friend further described it as "the place where all the farmers go to coffee."
