Bakesale Betty’s in Oakland, CA specializes in such luxurious baked goods as sticky date pudding with caramel sauce and sponge cake bars filled with strawberry jam and coated with chocolate and coconut.  But first you’ll want to try one of the two sandwiches available, particularly the fried chicken with coarse-cut slaw.  There are no tables inside but you can take your meal to one of the ironing boards set up out front.  Hear all the details as Jane and Michael Stern tell Lynne Rossetto Kasper about Bakesale Betty’s on The Splendid Table this weekend on public radio.  If you miss the show you can hear their segment, or the entire show, online.

The photos are from Michael Stern’s Roadfood.com review.
