Copal Grill in Charlotte closes permanently

Amy & I were tragically Travelin Manned last week when we stopped for breakfast at the Copal Grill at 5923 Wilkinson Boulevard in Charlotte. This time, however, the Queen City meat-and-three institution—a favorite of many Roadfooders—has closed for good, as evidenced by this door sign: “We are permanently closed. Thank you to all our loyal customers. We loved serving you for the last 41 years.” The site was reportedly needed for a new airport freeway entrance. The Copal Grill was prominently featured, along with Bar-B-Q King down the street, in the music video for “Let Her Cry,” the 1994 megahit from South Carolina’s Hootie & the Blowfish. There is hope, though, at the bottom of that same door sign: “Leave your name & address so we can drop you a postcard with our new location.” We’re keeping our fingers crossed for a phoenix-like return of the Copal.

I don't suppose that I can start collecting royalties on the phrase "Travelin' Manned"?

No, but our next RF meal together is on us, since your signature phrase is part of our vernacular now!
