Beacon Media News recently interviewed Richard Binder, one of the owners of Philippe the Original in Los Angeles, CA.  The resulting story is tied in with the Pasadena Marathon.  The part about Philippe focuses on the family-like relationship that exists at the restaurant.  All of their employees have health and dental coverage.  Since the 1940’s they have had only three fry cooks!    One employee began as a busboy 40 years ago.  Today, he’s a manager, and because he’s preparing to retire, he’s passing along the secret of the special Philippe mustard made each week.

Pictured above in a wanderingjew photo is a lamb dip sandwich.  Besides the original beef dip, they also offer it made with turkey, ham, or pork.  See the Roadfood.com review of Philippe.
