Which Florida Specialty Do You Enjoy Most?

Who doesn’t love a slice of cool, creamy, sweet-tart Key lime pie?  The pie came out on top in the recent Roadfood.com food poll, closely followed by Florida’s entry in America’s hoagie-sub-grinder-hero sweepstakes: the Cuban sandwich.  Cooter, mullet, and gator?  They’ve got to hire new press agents.  Try them the next time you visit Florida.

Of the ones that need new press agents, I feel smoked mullet is the best. The only problem with it is the work and effort needed to get at those bones. Gator is just not very flavorful, but turtle can be good with a nice recipe.

Another smoked mullet fan here. It's a specialty of West Coast FL where I spent some time. Mullet is a vegetarian fish that has (believe it or not) a gizzard same as birds

I live on East Coast of FL now and miss it

I think gator tail has to be specially prepared.  Some people beat it and others soak it in milk.  Still, I think the best Florida specialty is the Spiny Lobster.  Very different from its northern relative, but fantastic fried and served with brocolli alfredo.
