It was close, but Roadfood.com readers chose to have no slaw on their pork barbecue sandwich, according to the recent Roadfood.com poll. Slaw on the sandwich is so common in Tennessee that we couldn’t find a photo of a TN sandwich without slaw in Roadfood’s large photo archives. The photo in the chart above comes from a Kentucky Q joint. The two of us split on the issue: Sue always wants slaw on her pork BBQ sandwich, while Bruce will eat an occasional slaw-topped sandwich for variety’s sake but mostly feels the cabbage overwhelms the taste of the pork (hot sauce is another matter!).
