Earlier this year the Le Mars Daily Sentinel reported that the new Highway 75 bypass around the town of Le Mars, IA had not hurt downtown businesses.  A recent article in the Sioux City Journal says that the effect on local businesses has been mixed.  Wells Dairy, home of the Blue Bunny Ice Cream Parlor, pictured above (Roadfood.com review) reports that business has been good, which they attribute in part to billboards and the Internet.  On the other hand, the manager of Bob’s Drive-Inn, pictured below (Roadfood.com review) noticed a distinct drop in business during the summer holiday weekends.  Le Mars is about 25 miles northeast of Sioux City on the way to the popular Iowa Great Lakes region.
