“Roasted Turkey Breast on Toast Points, Sauce Mornay, Parmesan Cheese, Tomatoes and Bacon. Baked to Perfection!”  That’s how the menu describes the Hot Brown in J. Graham’s Café, the casual restaurant at The Brown Hotel of Louisville, Kentucky (Roadfood.com review; photo above).  And The Brown Hotel should know: they invented the famous dish!  The Brown will be celebrating their 85th anniversary October 22nd through 24th, and as part of the celebration they’ll be offering, on Wednesday the 22nd, 85 cent mini-Hot Brown portions to go at the lower entrance to the hotel from noon to 1 pm.

Also on the 22nd, from 11 am until 2 pm, J. Graham’s will have a Hot Brown special: for 85 cents, plus a $15 donation to the Kentucky Humane Society ($15.85) you can enjoy a Hot Brown, slice of Derby Pie, salad bar, and beverage.  The Hot Brown and Derby Pie alone would total $19.  Throw in the salad bar and beverage and it’s a pretty good deal, and a good excuse to sample a Roadfood classic at the source.
