What is Your Favorite Wisconsin Specialty?

The German sausage known as bratwurst can be found all over America (and, of course, outside America too).  So why are brats at their best in Wisconsin, and why are Wisconsin’s best brats to be found in Sheboygan?  Perhaps it’s the beer marinade, or the charcoal grilling.  Or could it be the gobs of butter!  Yes, it sounds insane until you arrive in Sheboygan and begin sampling, but Sheboygan brats are generally dressed with lots of real Dairy State butter.  On first taste, doubt may rule.  On second taste, you’re hooked for life.

Apparently, many Roadfood.com readers have spent a little time nibbling brats in Wisconsin because they came out on top in the recent Roadfood.com poll.  Those squeaky (when eaten cold from the bag) cheese curds came in second.  Not surprisingly, booyah came in last.  Most non-natives have never tried it, probably because it can’t be found in restaurants.  You’re best bet: look for a big Wisconsin event where the local fire department or civic organization is providing the eats.  Booyah will probably be there.
