Long Johns are Back!

As some disappointed Roadfooders have noted in the Roadfood Forums, Butler’s donut shop in Westport, Massachusetts is no more as of this year.  The good news is that the famed Long Johns, which Jane Stern proclaims one of the greatest Roadfoods on earth, are available again at the new location of Butler’s, in Somerset, MA.  For the uninitiated, Long Johns (pictured above) are featherweight rectangles of dough that are split and filled with fresh whipped cream and a line of raspberry jam.  Hear Jane and Michael Stern extoll the virtues of the long john, and the cream puff too, on this weekend’s episode of The Splendid Table, hosted by Lynne Rossetto Kasper. If you miss the radio show you can listen to their segment, or the entire show, online.
