We reported here in July that Betty’s Pies of Two Harbors (Roadfood.com review) had opened a branch in the Minneapolis-St. Paul suburbs in June, and the early word on the pies was not good. The Star Tribune has just done a story about Betty’s Pies and the bumpy ride they’ve had in their first few months. The demands of operating in an urban area are much different than those in a tourist location. It’s not a review, but reports from those they spoke to are mixed. The owners acknowledged the early problems and say they have been addressed. We’ll be looking for further reports in the future.

One other note: the new Betty’s Pies will be holding an official grand opening on Saturday, October 4th. Best of all, founder Betty Lessard is expected to attend!
