The Minnesota State Fair in St. Paul is one state fair with a huge food selection, from alligator to zeppole. Picking off a few of the hundreds of food items offered, you can enjoy cream puffs, lefse, turkey dinner, baked apple dumplings, a 1/3-pound slice of bacon on a stick that’s been fried and caramelized with maple syrup (!), peanut butter hot dogs, foot-long walleye sandwiches, elk burgers, loose meat sandwiches, Gizmo sandwiches (loose beef and pork on a bun with tomato sauce and mozzarella), cheese curds, pigs in a blanket, pork chops on a stick, nut rolls on a stick, pork tenderloins, ham loaf, Swedish meatballs, lingonberries, Swedish sausage, Uffda Brat (Norwegian sausage wrapped in a potato lefse), Minnesota wild rice and beef sausage, wild rice corndogs, bison jerky… Whew!
The concert schedule includes 3 Doors Down, Toby Keith, Brad Paisley, and Gnarls Barkley. There are horse shows and rodeos, too. And of course there will be all those livestock, 4-H, and food competitions that make state fairs so much fun! See the fair website for more information.
