Want to show off your shrimp heading and peeling prowess? The 38th Annual Sneads Ferry Shrimp Festival in North Carolina is the place to do it, as contestants try to head or peel 50-200 shrimp (depending on age category) in the fastest time. Perhaps you’re a better cook than header, in which case you may want to enter the Shrimp Cook Off, using fresh local shrimp. Or would you rather eat than cook? There will be plenty of shrimp to consume while listening, or dancing, to Carolina beach music. There’ll be bluegrass and gospel music too, and fireworks, a classic car show, a parade, a beer & wine garden, crafts, and a carnival. You can meet the 2008 Shrimp Queens, and buy a bottle of Reel Red , the 2008 Sneads Ferry Shrimp Festival Wine (if it’s not already sold out). See the festival website for more information.
