100 things to eat…Stop #2

Stop #2 (#39 on the list of 100 things to eat in Iowa before you die) was at Tasty Tacos in Des Moines for a steak taco. Although I was somewhat skeptical as to whether the food could live up to the store name, TT proves that good Mexican food CAN be found in the Hawkeye State. A soft, puffy tortilla (reminiscent of Indian fry bread) held a combination of flavorful shredded steak, standard melted cheese, and lettuce. Topped with a healthy layer of their hot sauce (still quite spicy despite the recent FDA-stimulated disappearance of jalapenos from grocery stores and restaurants!), this taco left me wishing that they were served up in pairs!
