This year’s Astoria Regatta Festival will be the 114th celebration of waterfront life along the Columbia River. Of course, the centerpiece of this festival is the sailboat racing at 11:00 am both Saturday and Sunday, but there is a lot more happening this weekend in Astoria. The Grand Land Parade kicks off at noon on Saturday; there’s also a junior parade Thursday. Other activities include a memorial ceremony, rose planting, a street dance, softball tournament, car show, a battle of the bands, a twilight boat parade, a Coast Guard demonstration, fireworks, a market, home tours, and live music (including Gary Lewis and the Playboys!?).
The Salmon BBQ, sponsored by the Astoria Lions Club, takes place at 1:00 pm Saturday. There’s also a luncheon on Thursday, a beer garden Friday and Saturday, a pre-parade breakfast Saturday, and the Yacht Club Pancake Breakfast Sunday. See the festival website for more information.
