Rick Nelson offers a testosterone-tinged take on Twin Cities tea for The Star Tribune of Minneapolis. His favorite spot for afternoon tea is the Avalon Tea Room & Pastry Shoppe in White Bear Lake, about which he says, “The high lace-and-doily quotient was almost as discombobulating as Pierce Brosnan's singing in ‘Mamma Mia!’” He also enjoyed the tea service at the most casual of the eight places surveyed, Cafe Latte: “Fancy, it's not, but it's satisfying”.
That’s Cafe Latte’s turtle cake in the above photo, from Michael Stern’s Roadfood.com review.
