If you’ve been enjoying ayersian’s Summertime Eats in CT series on Roadfood Digest, you might also like to check out this story by Korky Vann for The Hartford Courant.  Korky talks about the summer-only clam shacks and ice cream stands of Connecticut.  Some Roadfood favorites mentioned include Harry’s Place in Colchester (Roadfood.com review), The Place in Guilford (pictured above; Roadfood.com review), Clamp’s in New Milford (Roadfood.com review), Abbott’s Lobster in the Rough in Noank (Roadfood.com review), and the Sea Swirl in Mystic (Roadfood.com review).

I must say I found the clams from the Sea Swirl superior even to those from the famed Clam Box in Ipswich, Mass, and I love the Clam Box. Perhaps it was just the harvest of that day, but the brine and sweet together was something I'll never forget.
