July 24th Thru 27th: Munger Potato Festival in Michigan

Free potatoes at the Munger Potato Festival!  No, we don’t mean free French fries or mashed potatoes; we’re talking bags of raw potatoes.  They give out tons of them at the festival.  There’ll also be ready-to-eat potatoes at the Munger Potato Festival, including hot French fries, baked potatoes, freshly made potato chips, potato soup, and best of all, the famous festival potato bratwurst made with Munger potatoes.  There’s also a chicken barbecue on Sunday.

There will be a demolition derby, figure 8 racing, music and dancing, bingo, potato sack races, a Mr. Potato Head contest, and a Sunday parade led by The Queen & Her Court.  Hopefully, this year they will avoid last year’s “troubles,” when 11 months into the Potato Queen’s reign, she was deposed for not attending enough events.  She was replaced with the runner-up.  Oh, did we mention that the runner-up happened to be the daughter of the Munger Potato Festival chairman?  Well, they say there’s no such thing as bad publicity.
