The definitive resource for news, events and reviews of great regional food from around the country
Housed in a nearly signless building, SoCo Creamery ladles out the best hot fudge in Western Massachusetts. Choose from over a dozen standard ice cream varieties or, if you have a taste for the extraordinary, be sure to order one of the daily flavors. The specialty board advertises more offbeat creations, such as Chocolate Malted Stout (a robust Guinness-flavored ice cream with chocolate chunks) and Zuppa Inglese (a divinely buttery butterscotch flavor).

Our recommendation - We would travel across state lines to experience ice cream at the Soco Creamery.

That fudge looks awful thin for a 5 star rating... hmm.

Chickpea, it's exactly that that netted all 5 stars: thin like European sauces, explosively chocolatey like roasted cocoa beans. I stand by this rating, and I don't prefer the goopy, ultra-thick fudges that taste like cake frosting.

Agreed. The photo actually shows the fudge sticking nicely to the mounded scoop.

We traveled an hour to this "wonderful" place. The air conditioning didn't work so it was hotter inside than out. They had about 12 flavors, although their website says they have over 100. Most of them were the plain ones - Strawberry, chocolate, etc. I got a peach cone and was so disappointed. There was so little peach flavor it was like eating creamy nothing. Another person got raspberry chocolate chip, which I took a bite of and another flavorless disappointment. Another bought ginger which he said was good but not outstanding and the 4th bought oreo cookie which I also tasted and while it was very creamy, tasted like anyone elses - nothing special. Very disappointing and a lot of gas when we could have gone to friendly's nearby for the same taste.
