New England Ice Cream 005

Halfway between the renowned Toad’s Place concert venue and the only recently closed Roadfood standby Yankee Doodle Sandwich Shop, this Yale tradition is constantly filled with students, families, and New Havenites looking for rich ice cream. Popular toppings are their homemade hot fudge and melted peanut butter, and though they rotate through flavors daily, Coffee Oreo is almost always on the roster and the hands-down choice for many Ashley’s fans.

Our recommendation - We would travel across several towns to experience Ashley’s Ice Cream.

Trip Report Card
Overall Experience

Coffee Oreo Ice Cream - Very creamy with a substantially dark roasted taste and generous crushed Oreos.
Strawberry Ice Cream - Flavor was muted but tasted natural with a smooth texture.
Vanilla Ice Cream - Adequate flavor and an ample mantle for toppings, like broken waffle cones.
Hot Fudge Sauce – Darker and more bitter than canned varieties.  Very thick and smothering.
