The Story of Gene & Jude

Eugene Mormino (Gene), in 1946, opened a stand in Chicago that sold clams, shrimp, and hot dogs with hand-cut French fries.  Later, with his buddy Julius DeSantis (Jude), they moved to the suburbs and focused on the dogs and fries, and Gene & Jude's was born.  Today, Gene & Jude's is run by Joe Mormino, Gene's son, and the French fries (which Michael Stern, in his Roadfood.com review, calls "some of the best French fries in Chicago") are still cut from fresh potatoes daily.  Read all about Gene & Jude's in this article by Mark Lawton in the Elmwood Park Leaves.
