Branch of New Orleans' Camellia Grill to Open in Florida Panhandle

New Orleans institution Camellia Grill, which had its post-Katrina reopening a year ago, expects to open their first branch about 250 miles east, in Destin, FL, by late July.  It'll have similar hours, decor, and menu - but it will be a little larger than the original.  Owner Hicham Khodr is even sending a few waiters from New Orleans to train the Destin crew, to try to duplicate that New Orleans feel.

For more information, see this story in The Destin Log.  Camellia Grill isn't the only New Orleans restaurant opening a Destin branch; Commander's Palace expects to open in July, and Pat O'Brien's sometime this summer.

Although the menu and decor may be the same, I can't possibly imagine them duplicating the atmosphere of the original place.  But, if I was in Destin, I would definitely try it with a (somewhat) open mind.
