New England Ice Cream 058

With weathered fluorescent's under the eaves giving everything a '50s yellow tint, Kimball Farms ice cream stand sits right in the middle of pastoral Carlisle, a thickly forested village with ancient stone fences and absolutely no commercial development (fast food, strip malls, condos, etc.). Without even a traffic light to interrupt the mood of this fiercely rural community, Kimball Farms serves hearty flavors to customers, many of whom drive from a few towns over to experience these frozen confections.

Our recommendation - We would travel across several towns to experience Kimball Farm Ice Cream.

Trip Report Card
Overall Experience

Kahlua Crunch Ice Cream - Mild coffee flavor with chocolate crisps mixed in. The smooth texture of the cream was a delight to our senses.
Maple Walnut Ice Cream - Loaded with walnuts, but a weak maple flavor. The uneven consistency created a lopsided experience.
Vanilla Ice Cream - Creamy, rich, and smooth.
Hot Fudge Sauce - Thick and gooey, but we would prefer a little more chocolate flavor.

Kimball Farm brings back many childhood memories. As a child, my uncle Frank would take me to Kimball's and I can still say it was the best ice cream I've ever had. Always fresh and great flavor.

I visit the Kimball's in Jaffrey, NH on a fairly regular basis. A small size order goes a long way to feeding a small army and the flavor is always great. Add to the farm ambience the take off and landings of small aircraft from the next door small airport and it's a great day. Open during the summers, they often also have a weeknight showing (either Wednesday or Thursday) of classic cars. Ice cream and cars, it doesn't get much better than that!!

You missed Peppermint Stick? Oh, it's one of their absolute best flavors! I'd swear it has a higher butterfat content than their other flavors. It's totally spoiled me for other creameries' versions of peppermint ice cream because Kimball's is so superior.

Maybe I haven't had the right flavors, but I was never excited by this place. Big servings but underwhelming flavor.
