 New England Ice Cream 049

Located just across the street from the Merrimack River is Sullivan Farms, a relative newcomer to the Massachusetts dairy scene (established in 1997). The menu rotates through over 100 flavor possibilities, from classic stand-bys such as coffee and butter pecan to more modern inventions such as Blueberry Cheesecake and Kahlua Fudge Brownie. If you are looking for a lighter alternative to a thick, creamy cone, sherbets, Italian ices, and frozen yogurts are also available.

Our recommendation - Sullivan Farms serves ice cream that doesn't meet the standard of a New England creamery.

Trip Report Card
Overall Experience

Coffee Brandy Ice Cream - A light coffee taste with a hint of brandy. The ice cream would have been enhanced by a an extra shot of flavor.
Mopman's Grasshopper Pie Ice Cream - The weak mint flavor was minimally enhanced by a scattering of chocolate cookies.
Vanilla Ice Cream - The scoop wasn't overly sweet, but tasted more like sugar than vanilla.
Hot Fudge Sauce - Inedible. A thick, almost cake icing texture, with an artificially tasting chocolate.

Doesn't that fudge look like cake frosting? It tasted like it, too -- as if it were right out of a Duncan Hines jar. This stand was the most crowded, however, and people were eating huge sundaes and such. One of the exceptions to the "full parking lot = good food" rule!
