Sundae

Crescent Ridge is a large-scale dairy and creamery, set up to satisfy the dairy cravings of hundreds of daily customers throughout all the New England seasons.  Most of the ice cream flavors have a smooth creamy texture and greatly benefit from a topping.  In addition to hand-scooped ice cream, it is possible to purchase pre-packed half-gallons, as well as milk and a variety of frozen dinner options (including frozen New England pub pizza.)

Our recommendation - We would drive across several towns to experience Crescent Ridge

Black Bear Ice Cream - Red raspberry ice cream with chocolate chips and raspberry truffles. The favorite flavor among the tasters had a creamy texture and plethora of flavors.
Chocolate Ice Cream - Creamy texture, but lacking intensity.
Vanilla Ice Cream - Smooth creamy texture that is satisfying when matched with a topping.
Hot Fudge Sauce - Thick, but very generic tasting.

Like Michael Stern at Round Rock Donuts, I was more inquisitive about the other items at Crescent Ridge, like the New England style pub pizza in their freezer. What is pub pizza, exactly? What makes it unique? I'll be making a return trip to figure that out...and to eat more Black Bear ice cream!

Pub pizza is a kind of individual-sized pizza served at a number of bars/small dining establishments south of Boston.

Places like the Lynwood in Randolph, Cape Cod Pizza in Brockton and Town Spa in Stoughton are good examples of places that serve this type of pizza.

Chowhound and Hiddenboston.com has some reviews/forum posts discussing this type of pie.

Agreed that it's not the rich, super-premium ice cream many are used to, but it's a fine old-style product in a pleasant spot. Try the Moose Tracks! Beats any I've had.

For bar pies, Red Wing in Foxborough is a good example. You can chase it with a beer and fried clams.
