The definitive resource for news, events and reviews of great regional food from around the country
While brother Gus woos the college crowd at Toscanini's in Cambridge, Joe Rancatore keeps it local with the hometown Belmont crowd at Ranc's. This local favorite offers a wide range of flavors, from the old stand-bys (like the Neapolitan trio) to more experimental flavors that give Christina's a run for their money (like Khulfi and gingersnap molasses). As an added bonus for those who enjoy elaboration, Ranc's can top them all with fresh whipped cream and sensational hot fudge.
Please visit http://www.RoadfoodDigest.com/IceCream for a complete listing of reviews in the New England Ice Cream series.
Our recommendation - We would travel across state lines to experience Rancatore's Ice Cream.

CeciF has been telling us about this place for quite a while, and her praises do not fall on deaf ears here. The cake batter ice cream was fabulous, and the Grape-nut had sooo much cereal in it. Next time, I want to try some of their cookies (seen above on the righthand shelf).

Ceci took me here in February and I agree with the high ratings for the grape nut ice cream and hot fudge sauce.

Chris, I'm sure Joe won't mind if I tell you... the cookies come from Lakota Bakery in Arlington. BTW I love the new(ish) Lexington Rancatore's. Great location in the heart of the center, it's an awesome space.

I blame living down the street from Ranc's for the extra 20lbs and those 20lbs never tasted better.

I'm glad I stopped by. I didn't know they had a new location. In addition to what's mentioned, they do good sorbets and fruit ice creams.
