The definitive resource for news, events and reviews of great regional food from around the country
The exterior of Lago’s Lone Oak is the picture of roadside ice cream stands with long outdoor counters and multiple windows for serving the queued-up masses. Lone Oak also serves a full drive-in menu of hamburgers, great hot dogs, and locally-made draft sodas (from Captain Eli’s of Portland, Maine). Hot dog connoisseurs will appreciate how the cooks place a bed of chopped purple onions in the bun underneath the hot dog for a crunchy surprise.

Our recommendation - Lago's Lone Oak serves ice cream that doesn't meet the standard of a New England creamery.

Lone Oak even had blueberry soda on tap! The color was amazing, but the flavor tasted artificial. Those hot dogs, however, were great!

Lone Oak isn't THAT bad-they do have a pretty good Banana ice cream (hard to find without being ruined by chocolate chips, walnuts, or other mix-ins), and a decent Run Raisin. If you happen to be in Rochester, you could do a lot worse than this place.
