The definitive resource for news, events and reviews of great regional food from around the country
A landmark in the Old Port, the doors of Beal’s Ice Cream remain open even in the dead of Maine’s winters. The rotating menu includes both basic and inventive ice cream flavors, including seasonal specialties such as Pumpkin and Indian Pudding. Although this downtown locale lacks the pastoral charm of other local creameries, it makes for a perfect stop when strolling the cobblestone Old Port streets.

Our recommendation - We would experience Beals Ice Cream if were traveling through the town.

We'd drive many, many miles for Beal's Teaberry ice cream, one of the most unique flavors around. Also, their Indian Pudding (available in the fall) is very good.

We stopped at the Beals on Rt 125 halfway between Westbrook and Gorham. The Teaberry was good, and a unique flavor, but in my opinion is ruined by the chocolate chips. Not necessary with this flavor.

Being an ice cream lover, my family and I love Beals' Ice cream- made in there location near Pine Point in Scarbrough- even their yogurt is better than most shops full fat ice creams- I love the gooey cosistancy of the hot fudge, and their chocolate is soooooooooooo good- a trip to the beach is not complete with out stopping at Beals (after eating fried clams, of course!)
