May 31 will be the last day for the 25-year old Garrett flagship at 670 North Michigan, to make way for the Ritz Carlton Residences.  There are four other Garrett shops in Chicago.  Read more about it in The Chicago Tribune.  Here's Michael Stern's Roadfood.com review.

I am shaking my head in disbelief. On the Roadfood Eating tour I mentioned the greatest threat to Roadfood is urban development. Unfortunately, Garrett is the latest casualty to developers "highest and best use" models. Fortunately, Garretts is not completely dissolved.

Garrett Popcorn was sold to a group of real estate developers a couple of years ago. Perhaps we're starting to see the other shoe drop.

They are looking at another North Michigan Avenue location for possible relocation. No specific locations have been announced.
