Rock Cafe of Stroud, OK Destroyed In Fire

We received the sad news this morning, from Kurt Gwartney of KGOU, that a fire last night destroyed the historic Rock Cafe, along Route 66.  Thankfully, nobody was injured, but the restaurant was gutted.  For more info, click here and here.

From Michael Stern's Roadfood.com review: "For 67 years, Rock Cafe has been an oasis for travelers along Route 66. Even though the Mother Road has been replaced by a superhighway, this place maintains the old two-lane spirit."

You gotta be kidding me!  I was planning on visiting there this weekend.  Glad to hear everyone is okay and hopefully they will be able to rebuild.

So sorry to hear about the fire. Dawn, you are in our thoughts and prayers. We visited with you in April. Good luck! Glad no one was hurt physically, but know this is traumatic for you and all fans of Route 66.
