Having eaten more than my fair share of elegant pizza lately at my local Pizzeria Lauretano, I was craving something raunchier. So when a friend needed a ride to New Haven, I managed to get us there an hour early in time for supper at Modern Apizza. The friend is a less-is-more type and wanted nothing more than cheese and tomato. I felt that it was important to respect the whole food pyramid, and so added sausage and broccoli. We wound up sharing both sides and I was surprised just how much I liked the plainer half in a comfort-food sort of way. As for raunch, this boy delivered brilliantly, as evidenced by the puddle left in the pan as we neared the end of the meal. (Warning: do not click more if you are disturbed by grease.)
