Sometimes a picture isn't worth 1000 words. Sometimes, it's worthless. During a recent visit to the White House Sub Shop, I had my usual Italian combo and a friend went for chicken parmesan. Like the White House cheese steak, the parm turned out to be a truly excellent hot Italian sandwich, perhaps the best I've tasted beyond Arthur Avenue. You'll have to take my word for that, since the picture I took makes it look like a hideous kitchen accident. Food photography can be difficult, especially if the food being photographed is inherently messy. On the other hand, some dishes are so photogenic that it's virtually impossible to take a bad picture of them. That would be the case with the garlic potato chips served at New York's Union Square Cafe, where I ate the day before my visit to the White House. These are sensationally delicious chips, and beautiful, too!
