The same year the first edition of Roadfood was published, we also published a book titled Amazing America, which was a guide to all the eccentric places (and people) we encountered between meals while traveling. We continue to come across all sorts of really amazing things, not the least of which is Carhenge, which we found while researching the great Mexican food of Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Curiously, unlike Cadillac Ranch outside of Amarillo, these vehicles remain free of graffiti and bullet holes. Just so this little notation has something to do with actually eating, here is a picture of the kitchen staff at Al's in Melbeta, the charming little restaurant we found on our way to have a look at Carhenge.
